Email is still one of the most direct ways to reach people who already know your business, whether that’s past customers, newsletter subscribers or warm leads who aren’t ready to buy yet.
We build and manage email campaigns and automated sequences that keep your business front of mind, without turning into spam that people unsubscribe from.
Why email still works
Social media platforms decide who sees your posts, and ads stop the moment you stop paying. Your email list belongs to you. The people on it have already bought from you, enquired or asked to hear from you, so they’re far more likely to respond than a cold audience. For a lot of small businesses, a few well-timed emails bring in repeat work that would otherwise go to whoever the customer happened to see first.
What we can set up and manage
- Welcome emails for new subscribers or customers, introducing the business and what you offer.
- Enquiry follow-up sequences, so someone who asked for a quote hears from you again if they haven’t replied.
- Review requests after a job or order, linking straight to your Google review page.
- Newsletters and offers for seasonal work, new products or events.
- Win-back emails for past customers you haven’t heard from in a while.
- Abandoned basket emails for online shops.
- List building, with sign-up forms on your website and a clear reason for people to join.
Doing email properly
Good email marketing is useful to the reader, not just a sales message every week. We keep emails short, relevant and clearly from a real business, and we make sure your list is built with consent, in line with GDPR, with an easy way to unsubscribe. We also track opens, clicks and, more importantly, the enquiries and sales that come from each email.
Many of these emails can run automatically. See our marketing automation service for how we set up follow-up that happens every time, and our CRM service for keeping your contacts organised in one place. If you’re working on reviews, my guide on how to get more Google reviews explains how to ask in a way that follows Google’s rules.
Frequently asked questions about email marketing
I don’t have an email list. Where do I start?
Most businesses already have more contacts than they think, from past customers, enquiries and invoices. The first step is working out who has agreed to hear from you, then adding a simple sign-up form to your website to grow the list from there.
How often should I send marketing emails?
Often enough that people remember you, and not so often that they unsubscribe. For many small businesses, once or twice a month plus automated follow-ups works well. It depends on your business and what you have to say.
Can I email people who’ve bought from me before?
Often yes, but it depends on how you collected their details and what they agreed to. We’ll check that with you before sending anything, so your email marketing stays GDPR compliant.
